孫悅1985年11月6日出生于河北省滄州市，在2007年NBA選秀大會上，孫悅在第二輪總第40順位被湖人隊選中。2008年8月8日，孫悅簽約湖人隊。2009年隨湖人隊奪得NBA總冠軍，同年8月1日被湖人隊裁掉。2009年9月15日，孫悅與尼克斯隊簽約，后于10月8日解約。

2014年9月，孫悅被租借至CBA北京男籃，并幫助球隊奪得2013-14賽季CBA總冠軍，從而成為歷史上第一個同時擁有NBA和CBA總冠軍戒指的球員。

2017年9月13日，北京男籃官方宣布，孫悅因腳踝傷勢過重而賽季報銷。2018年8月30日，北京男籃官方宣布與孫悅解約。2019年8月6日，北控男籃官方宣布簽下孫悅。2021年10月16日，北控男籃官方宣布，孫悅選擇退役。

退役后的孫悅開了一家籃球館，他還時常以嘉賓身份解說籃球比賽。
