皮蓬1965年9月25日出生于美國阿肯色州漢堡，1987年NBA選秀，皮蓬在首輪第5順位被西雅圖超音速隊選中，隨即被交易至芝加哥公牛隊。職業生涯曾效力于公牛、火箭以及開拓者隊。皮蓬生涯6次奪得總冠軍；3次入選最佳陣容第一陣容；8次入選最佳防守陣容第一陣容；7次入選NBA全明星陣容；1994年榮膺NBA全明星MVP。

2004年，皮蓬宣布退役。2005年12月10日，公牛為皮蓬舉行球衣退役儀式。2008年，皮蓬曾復出效力芬蘭以及瑞典聯賽。 2010年4月6日，皮蓬入選籃球名人堂。2021年10月，皮蓬入選NBA75大巨星。

皮蓬職業生涯共出戰1178場常規賽，場均得到16.1分6.4籃板5.2助攻2搶斷，三項命中率為47.3/32.6/70.4%。
