CJ于1991年9月19日出生在美國俄亥俄州坎頓，在2013年NBA選秀中，CJ于首輪第10順位被波特蘭開拓者隊選中，他在開拓者低開高走，前兩個賽季場均得分分別為5.3和6.8分。但他在第三個賽季獲得了大量出場時間，場均得分也飆升至20.8分，一舉斬獲最快進步球員的同時，也逐漸與利拉德形成了后場雙槍的組合。2022年2月8日，CJ被開拓者交易至鵜鶘。

2023-24賽季，CJ代表鵜鶘出戰66場比賽，場均32.7分鐘能貢獻20分4.3籃板4.6助攻0.9搶斷，投籃命中率45.9%，三分命中率42.9%，罰球命中率82.7%。
